Madame Penehupifo Pohamba, the first lady of Namibia has been elected President of the Organization of African First Ladies Against HIV and AIDS (OAFLA) at a meeting that took place in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea on June 29.

Madame Pohamba is also the Patron of Maternal Health in Namibia and continues to improve maternal and child health as well as working towards improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable people in Nambia’s society.

The Organization for the Empowerment of Widows/Widowers and Orphans of HIV and AIDS in Namibia (OEWONA) states that with the full support of its development partners, Madam Pohamba will “successfully take the battle against HIV and AIDS, especially the prevention of the transmission of HIV and AIDS from Mother to Child (PMTCT) to greater heights, not only in Namibia but to the entire African continent.”
